From Virginia Beach & Norfolk:  64 West, towards Norfolk. 264 West (thru Downtown Tunnel) to 58 West (see below).


From Chesapeake: 64 West to 58 West (see below).


From Hampton, Newport News, Williamsburg, Richmond: 664 South to Exit 13A for 58 West.


Once you Reach 58 West:


Go 12.5 Miles on 58 West, take the 13/32 South Ahoskie/ Edenton exit, look for the Suffolk airport signs.


You will be on the 13/32 Bypass. Go 3 miles, and take the first exit 13/32 South.


Go 2 miles and turn left onto Airport Road, then left onto Gene Bolton Drive.


We are located in the very large metal hanger to the left of the airport terminal. Go to the building with the Skydive Suffolk signs only. Be aware when crossing the taxiway. Stop and wait for any moving traffic to clear before you cross. Follow the signs on the outside of the Skydive Suffolk building to the Manifest office. Please do not drive on the taxiway!


About Us


Skydive Suffolk is the premier skydiving center in the Virginia Beach area and has been in operation since 1960. The skydiving center is owned and operated by retired Navy EODC Mike Manthey. Skydive Suffolk offers tandem skydives, skydiving lessons, and jumping for experienced licensed skydivers. Skydive Suffolk is a USPA (United States Parachute Association) Group Member and has pledged to adhere to the USPA’s Basic Safety Requirements for students and advanced skydivers. In addition to these civilian skydiving activities, the facilities at Skydive Suffolk also support skydiving training operations for multiple branches of the United States Armed Forces. Mike Manthey


Mike is a 20 year United States Navy Veteran serving both as a Hospital Corpsman and as a Master EOD tech.  He began his skydiving career while on active duty, completing the Military Free Fall course and Accelerated Free Fall Instructor program as well as Air-ops Trainer/Examiner, Static-line Jumpmaster, HRST/Cast Master, Freefall Jumpmaster, Videographer and Military Vertical Wind Tunnel Coach programs. He retired in 2012 and his extensive military background allowed him to continue working as an independent contractor for the Navy in training and education. After retiring from the Navy, Mike transitioned to civilian skydiving and he acquired Skydive Suffolk in 2013.  He has approximately 1700 skydives and 100+ hours of wind tunnel time.

Ian Mackenzie


Ian Mackenzie started skydiving in the South African army in the late 1980s. In the mid 1990s Ian completed AFF and earned a South African A-license but left skydiving shortly after to pursue a career as a mixed gas diving instructor. Ian moved to Arizona in 2004, and in 2007 returned to skydiving. Since then Ian has logged several thousand jumps, several hundred tunnel hours and has competed on multiple 4-way FS teams. Prior to joining Skydive Suffolk, Ian spent seven years at Skydive Arizona as a load organizer, ground safety officer, and military operations manager.

Skydive Suffolk has comfortable facilities to compliment your skydiving experience! At our Suffolk Executive Airport location you will find:

Large Grass Landing Areas

Our 28 acres of grass landing areas are situated within the 500 acre Suffolk Executive airport. Additionally, our hangar offers a spectator viewing area and is situated directly off of the runway to get you back up in the air as soon as your parachute is safely packed.

Hangar with Large Parachute Packing Area

In addition to the largest indoor parachute packing area in Virginia (over 5,000 square feet) our hangar offers free high speed wi-fi, skydiving gear and souvenir store, large areas for instruction and briefing/debriefing before and after your jumps, clean restrooms, and sheltered spectator viewing.

Air-conditioned Student & Tandem Waiting Area

Come in the air conditioned office to check in for your tandem, sign up for your next jump, or learn more about your jumping options at Skydive Suffolk. We've recently renovated this space, along with the restroom.
